Sybase PBVM 12.5

Sybase PBVM (PowerBuilder Virtual Machine) is the runtime engine developed by Sybase for executing applications built with PowerBuilder. It interprets PowerBuilder p-code and delivers the core services those applications require, including object and event management, windowing and UI control behavior, the DataWindow runtime, error handling, and database connectivity through supported interfaces. PBVM is distributed as a redistributable runtime (for example, pbvmXX.dll with companion libraries) and must be installed on client machines for PowerBuilder applications to run. The PBVM version typically needs to match the PowerBuilder version used to build the application. Historically, Sybase also offered a PBVM variant for Windows CE devices as part of Pocket PowerBuilder. By centralizing execution within a virtual machine, PBVM helps ensure consistent behavior across deployments and simplifies maintenance and updates.
